Rahsaan
NV Bossard-Thuaud Vin Mousseux de Qualit
Not bad. More or less clean and straightforward sparkly if thats what you want. Although there was a slight nutty funky note that caused some discord in my sensitive palate, but nothing that would disturb large groups drinking large quantities.

NV Bouchard Inflorescence Champagne
Slightly toasty but mostly lemony, fresh, and bright with silky minerally edges. I understand this is the entry-level wine so I wasnt expecting too much elegance but there was enough to keep me satisfied. YMMV. That said, clearly not where one goes for QPR. Also, I understand these are single-vintage wines but there was no indication of the vintage that I could find on the bottle. So this note is probably useless for those who may have other bottles.

1998 Louis Jadot Beaune Clos des Ursules
Resolved and pretty in the soft faded no-edges kind of way. So I can enjoy a glass or two with dinner. But this is also slightly metallic and Im thinking it was damaged at some point because other folks tell me this wine should not be showing this old.

2008 Domaine Ppire Muscadet
Nice and lively as you know. Although this time I couldnt shake the feeling that I should have opened the 08 Briords.

2006 Michel Tte Julinas Domaine du Clos du Fief Cuve Prestige
Some nice flesh here although overall pretty crisp, structured, and not as giving/fun loving as I had been led to believe. Good material but probably needed more time to loosen up than I had to give it (2 hours).

What a dreary set of notes: "not bad", "this note is probably useless", "it was damaged", "I should have opened ", "not as giving/fun loving as I had been led to believe".

Remind me not to drink with you!

You must have better luck than me if you never run into dreary wines!

Although to be fair, "this note is probably useless" was not a reflection on the quality/excitement of the wine (which was very fine indeed) but rather on the labelling practice and the difficulty of distinguishing between the 06 and 07 versions. (Some people mention vintage dates on the rear labels of Inflorescence but there was none on this label).

Just had my first taste of Infloresence last week. Sounds like you describe it. I really liked it, and if that's entry level, the others much be stunning.

No comment on Bouchard, but I've often found this concept false. Many times the "prestige" cuvee or site just means more extraction, lees aging, oak aging, and/or new oak.

My notion was only about Bouchard. With many new world and some old world producers, however, you're absolutely right.

There you go, Rahsaan, your reward for honesty.

I had the Bouchard 02 Inflorescence La Parcelle when we attended the annual holiday party of our tasting group in LA. I was very impressed and so were some of the others attending. I don't drink a lot of champagne so I don't begin to think of myself as an expert. Oh, by the way the La Parcelle is not the top of the Bouchard sparklers. $100.00 per bttle

Sigh. The quality of rahsaan's drinking has just gone downhill since he left d.c.!

Last night was a different pleasure. More sugar involved. And definitely more excess.

Will post some non-dreary notes when I straighten out my synapses.

That's my usual take on the 2008s (as you know exactly the reverse of my take on the 2007s).

We're now in the same position vis a vis Bouchard, having tasted only the regular Inflorescence, not expecting too much, and liking it quite a bit.

There seems to be some palate alignment going on (as in your thread on 07 Occhipinti Frappato)!

I was pleasantly surprised by the Bouchard and would happily drink it again but at those prices I wasn't impressed enough to lay out my own money for the Roses de Jeanne.
