TN: 1999 Pottmeyer & Liem Pinot Gris

Levi Dalton

Levi Dalton
1999 Pottmeyer & Liem Pinot Gris "Elvenglade Vineyard" Willamette Valley from magnum

Delicious and still young. Old Mosel style richness of flavor on a lithe frame. Trimbach better watch out :)

One of only 2 vintages produced by Peter Liem's own hand (the other was 2000). Only six magums were bottled. From fruit Peter was given basically for free (the owner of Elvenglade was given some of the finished product in return). With one used barrel and winemaking advice borrowed from Cameron winery. Oversulphured as a result of a miscalculation and thus long lived. Bottled and waxed sealed by hand.

Light hue, especially for the aged involved.

Early picked fruit.

Released in the fall of 2000 with a wholesale price of $10 per 750ml bottle.

This is the most captivating white wine I have had from Oregon.

I had this once and loved it. Made me think for a while that I wanted to make pinot gris here in OR. I got over that. Nice to see the wine still lives.

Did Eric & Peter really put those wines on the open market? Crazy.

Eric is one of the most honest & trustworthy guys in the biz (with taste) - if you are ever in Portland, go to Liner & Elsen and ask to Eric...and we all know Peter...couldn't be a better combination.

I wish we had a local CFE!
