That was the bottle I was refering to as having dense pineapple flavors. The '00 was noticeably different.

Peter L. says the '96 is off the chain, or was back a few years ago the last time he checked in.

Domaine Jo Pithon is indeed no more. From what I've read, Philippe Fournier ended up with most of the vineyards, and the new name is Domaine FL.

Jo Pithon has a new negociant business with his stepson called Pithon-Paille and I do hope someone is bringing in the wines.

You're quite welcome.

That bottle did have a bit of a tropical streak, which can happen with this wine. I've found it more in hot vintages like 2003.

Unfortunately, I don't have any 1996 but would use it as a reference point for the 2002s development.

Tell Peter I said hullo, if he's still around. You're quite lucky to taste his pinot gris. It's a good story, that wine, but I've never had the opportunity to try it.

Jo Pithon run a negociant business... and an estate. He still run the beautifull coteaux of the rserve de Pont-Barr, "Les treilles".
About non-oaky chenin, you should taste the Philippe Gourdon wine's of La Tour Grise at Puy-Notre-Dame. Very nice with oysters !

The Clos Rougeard Saumur Brz is easily one of the best; strange not to see it there. I had the 1997 a year and a half ago, and it was excellent (and still young).
