Recent bottles I've got say:

ND-1187-001 / L 01 on the front label and in very small print: monroe 104966 (i think)

2001 or 2002?

I think that is the '01.

If you zoom in, you can see the same L 01. Peter says the wines that were available in early '09 were the '01 vintage.

And if I am reading the Polaner pages correctly, they are showing only the '01 as available; no '02 yet. Sharon may have a better handle on this.

Here is the story, make sense?

The bottles were received in Portland directly from France, there never was any tissue I am told. Triage brought them in.

The L01 on the front label is not at all an indication of date.

Bouchard could not bottle this as a Vintage Champagne due to French law which would have required him to declare it as such. Years ago.

He did not put a disgorgement date on the bottles either, nor any other code in substitution for a vintage declaration.

They have an invoice from Bouchard, determining that the bottles are 2002, which Triage accepts and believes to be true.

This is really a mess for Cedric Bouchard...he really need to fix this stuff.

Fine mousse. Very tiny bubbles...Really intense fruit on the nose, kinda like a Briords, lots of lemon and pear yet with good mineralty underneath, chalky too. On the palate, the wine is really structured, less delicate and subtle, more big and stupid, but with lots of body, viscous, and more of what I found on the nose. The finish is ridiculously long, with great acidity lingering.

Clear as mud. I did recently buy some bottles from Chambers that they had listed as 2002; so if i remember, I will compare the labels on these new ones to my older ones.

Thanks Kirk...

Just as you reported, Mark. My "old" bottles -- from the end of '08/ beginning of '09 (from Garagiste) have the same lable as the new ones (2 weeks ago) from Chambers. The latter were definitely sold as '02. Unfortunately, I have no records of what [W]inderman said about the year of harvest for that original offering.

Kirk, the ones you are referring to from Rimmerman were also sold as 2002. So There is at least consistency there fwiw.
Best
