Amazing E-Mail from a Wine Retailer in Denver

Received this lovely note tonight:

Dear Joe,

I'm in retail wine sales in Denver, CO, and can not seem to find who handles Dagueneau wines in Colorado. Please let me know as soon as possible. I'm thinking there will be great demand for his wines now with his most untimely passing yesterday, and I would like some for myself and for the shop. I"ve put them off personally for a while just because of their cost but will happily have some now. I'm sure you've lost a good friend.

She's put them off because they were too expensive, until he died, but now she wants some to sell? Happily?

Huh. That's kind of tone-deaf. At best.

I used to think that they were impervious to reason, but now I know they are impervious to conscience as well. How could I not have understood that before?
 
Stunned. Shouldn't be, but am. Especially given the depth of the relationship you've revealed in your posts about M. Dagueneau. Sorry you're dealing with stuff like this when you're mourning the loss of such a special person in your life. Peace be with you.
 
I spoke to a rep from the local distributor (CA) of Dagueneau that day. His cell phone was ringing off the hook all day with calls from retailers wanting to buy the wine, many of whom had never bought it before. Cherryl is not the only one in this business with tin ears.

He should have sent those buyers to you and you could have sold them Tissot Gewurztraminer or Lopez de Heredia Tondonio Blanco, telling them that these were bound to be the next Dagueneau.

I'm no macho pedant, Edan, I mean, Eden, but we call it Traminer. Our reasons are mysterious, but sound. Probably.
