Barb made an amazing Moroccan Lamb Stew with Mediterranean Couscous with raisins and raita+Naan...
2004 Jacques Puffeney Arbois Poulsard, alc 13%, $21 on sale...translucent brick red color...nose is of underbrush and a slight sweetness...the palate is semi-sweet and more intense than the color would imply....brushiness, a little dirt and wonderful fruit structure....it was an excellent match to the sweetness of the dish...the wine seems to have an "older" character than the vintage would imply
the stew had lamb, onion, garlic, coriander, cinnamon, ginger, tumeric, red pepper, tomatoes, carrots and a topping of ground almonds with confectioner's sugar.. (details available is desired)
We started with a 2001 Tempier Bandol Cuvee Speciale that was a failure....very medicinal and odd...not corked but not pleasant...will recork and try in a couple of days...very odd indeed
