February is the shortest month

(And I'm the ripoff T.S. Eliot.)

What should I drink this month?

I have glutted myself several days running on natrliche Weine, only Frenchy style (anyone who ain't tasted Pascal Simonutti hain't tasted natchrul wine).

So, if I were to be most unexpected, what upstanding and classic and straightforward good quaff would one suggest?

I'll do this for a bit.

Then I'll post on the results of my foray into the much maligned aligot grape. Clip: retain the malignment, ye all.

Hows about searching for some nice, unspoofy '07 claret, winegrrrl? A more Quixotic quest I can hardly imagine.

There's an ez pass...

Since this is the dead of winter, why don't you post on some heart-warming wines like Porto or Banyuls, for your sensitive French palate?

Ooh, Barolo... exotic.

Ooh, Bordeaux... what on earth is that?

VLM, you name me a Cahors that won't make me do the classic VLMish gesture of reverse peristalsis onto my own palate, please.

It's Oyster season! Time for some Muscadet, some Chablis.

It's also Cassoulet season! Time for some Bandol, some Oupia.

Shall I suggest what is the most obvious, warming and joy-giving thing to drink in dark midwinter. No I shan't. This board doesn't deserve such obvious wisdom.

CdP? I heard Foillard's isn't half bad [jk].

The Piemonte is a good place to be.

I have opened a bottle of '99 Texier Hermitage, but I think I should have waited.

I'm not sure if you mean Ardbeg or Lagavulin here. Tough call, really.

I was thinking Roger Groult "Doyen d'Age" or, perhaps...
