Who's Next?

Predictions for who will be be playing (music, not football) next year?

I'm betting some one like the Allman Brothers or Steve Miller Band. More geezer rock - it sells to the demographic.

The Allman Brothers are too good to play the SB. They are still one of the great American rock and roll bands. Derek Trucks is a force of nature. They also don't have enough radio hits.

Steve Miller would be a logical choice.

uff da! how about that wardrobe malfunction re: the missing lower buttons on pete townsend's shirt? we really didn't need to see that. keep yer gut to yerself, matey!

Greg Allman would qualify for the Superbowl half time show based on the recent age requirement.

I love Derek Trucks, and it is a real treat to see him and Warren Haynes play those Allman Bros songs, almost as good as Dickey Betts and Duane.

I enjoyed the Who, so what if their voices are mostly shot.

Considering the fact that you pretty much have to be old and white these days to make it through Network Security, my vote is for either Journey or Boston. Don't everyone throw up in your mouth at once. Then again historically we are due for a return of Up With People.

So much of Super Bowl music is canned music to which they lip synch. Granted, this wasn't prime The Who, but this was way better than all that canned stuff they did for so long.
I liked it.

I just wish we could get the baby boomers who put this crap programming together to realize that they make the 60s look like a deeply hypocritical era when they roll out a bunch of rich geezers to sing songs of revolution.

And to sing songs of teenage angst.

Once again, Beyonc was robbed.

Well, when you put it like that, maybe The Who re-creators weren't so bad.

I used to love the who but shortly after they started playing I had to change the channel - switched to the kitten halftime show on the Puppy Bowl - too cute, which I can't say for the who.

I missed a Puppy Bowl with a Kitten halftime show??!!

Brittney should play every half time show forever regardless of her weight, personal problems and or legal issues. It is the American way.

And I agree with Steve, they sounded pretty good and actually played it live, sloppy guitars and all.

It was a big hit with the four-and-a-half year old crowd.

Quoth my kids: "Do you know who the cheerleaders are?!?.... Bunny rabbits!!!"

Aren't creaking rock icons on a every other year rotation? Next year the half time show returns to mish-mash: Taylor Swift, Stevie Wonder and Rick Springfield doing a medley of solos, duets and trios.

Grrr
I think it stinks that neither the NFL nor the broadcast network pays the band.

Pay the band! Publicity aside, it's the principle of the thing.
