2004 E Houillon Poulsard Arbois Pupillin

Stephen South
2004 Emmanuel Houillon Poulsard Arbois Pupillin Maison Pierre Overnoy, alc 12.5%...a most unpleasing looking wine...murky, semi brown dull red.... the nose is of twigs and bark with a hint of sweetness...the palate is much more pleasing with some baking spices and berries with a small amount of tannins....turns a little sour on the finish....really did quite well with Shepherd's Pie

2001 Hamacher Pinot Noir, at dinner last night...really drinking extremely well..less funky than a '98 version I had a year of so ago...remarkably good with crab cakes

I have the 1999 and 2000 in the queue - should be an interesting comparison.
I love that vintage Overnoy (but then, what vintage don't I?).
Best, Jim
