Fun times in SF

Walking the streets on San Francisco until you're legs fall off often leads to the browsing of real estate sections and job postings. Sounds like a great trip. I need to figure out how to hit Terroir the on my next trip up to the future in-laws in Sonoma County.

Interesting. I had a thoroughly pedestrian carnitas burrito at the Castro location just the other day. It's hard to see what difference a quesadilla would make.

The carnitas aren't very good at Castillito.

(If anyone know where to get good carnitas in this town, spill!)

I find that the very good taquerias around here are very good at only a few items; and the ones that are really good at those items are probably the best in the city. Lengua at La Taqueria for example. And there are fewer yet that use high quality components - crema, queso fresco, rice, beans, tortillas, salsas. Which the Castro El C does. And they've got a great grill.

It's just a man with a grill making tacos. There's usually only two or three meats available. I think I've had carne asada, lengua, maybe birria? It's all been good. Grilled jalapenos as well.

So grilled stuff. Yum! Is it a griddle or a grill? I don't get why more places don't have real grilling.

If you find yourself in Santa Cruz check out Tacos Moreno. I've had them air lifted to Brooklyn.

I live in SC. I haven't been Tacos Moreno for a while. No reason, you how it is when something's always there. Stylistically distinctive, consistent for 20 years, but I'm not sure about about revelatory.
What did you like? I'm due.

Walking the streets of San Francisco also opens you up to the risk of starting to look like Karl Malden.

My sister lived in Santa Cruz and I would have her bring them on the plane when she visited me. The simple carne azada burito is a revelation to the Mexican offerings on the East Coast. My mouth is watering right now.

Rahsaan, I guess you're not aware, but you can legally do this in your new hometown. They have to put a little seal thing over it, which will apparently stop 100% of drinking and driving because something with the tensile strength of Scotch tape will just naturally have that effect, but carrying your unconsumed wine out the door is allowed here.

This reminds me of the "tape the straw to the side of the Big Gulp-sized hurricane and it ain't an open container" drive-thru bars of Louisiana.
