NWR: Charlie Christian. Eden - Help?

If anyone is interested, on the amazon site you now can get the 4 volume Proper box for something like $29 and a very good set of exclusively live recordings (also 4 volumes, includes the five Minton's/Monroe's recordings plus Charlie live with Lester and the Count at the From Spirituals to Swing Carnegie Hall and the Minneapolis set) for $15. Some overlap, surely, between the two, but at these prices, what the hell. Since there seems to be some kind of copyright dispute going on holding up regular distribution of Charlie's recordings (including the Sonys), I'd advise going for them. Perhaps it will resolve eventually (like the MJQ/Laurindo Almeida album finally did), but these prices are good enough that it's not worth taking the chance that they won't.

Chuck Wayne and Joe Puma. ("Interactions." Good luck finding it.)

Funny you should mention this. I tracked down the LP tonight and I'm looking forward to receiving it in a couple of months. The postal system in Bratislava (or maybe it's coming from Kyrgyzstan?) isn't all that rapid, particularly using bargain media mail rates.

-Eden (geek? Not me! Nooooooo, you must be thinking of someone else)

And BTW, did I mention that it's a DJ copy, one of the three that were sent out to radio stations with an errant umlaut over the 'u' in Puma on the cover. This was fixed in the actual release (it should have been over the 'a' in Wayne, like anyone cares) but makes this particular record excruciatingly rare. In fact, it's been referred to as "the inverted airplane stamp of the record world" by people who a, know such things, and b, have no lives. Maybe this minutia is fascinating among the inhabitants of the Bratislavan (or Kyrgystanian) record world, but it means something to someone somewhere and will ultimately enhance my reputation among record aficionados because I'm obiously Someone Who Knows The Difference.

-Eden (still not a geek. Really, I'm not. I just like music)(and did I mention that this is one of the ultra-rare 300 gram pressings made from virgin vinyl? As a matter of fact, this one was pressed between the knees of virgins to ensure the purity of the record, and it's rumored to be as difficult to find virgins in Bratislava (or is it Kyrgystan?) as it is to find honest wine merchants during the holiday season in Beverly Hills)(and that's pretty freakin' difficult!!)
