One score and seven years ago my friend John went to Burgundy and brought back with him a 1979 Chateau de Pommard, two 1982 Gros Frre et Soeur Richebourg and one 1982 Gros Frre et Soeur Vosne Romane. Last night he opened them all, in an orgy of celebration, after decades of poor storage (the wines, not us). All maderized. I bring you this tale of woe on this sunny tropical morning so that you may count your blessings and look on the bright side.
