A nice wine. Silky and smooth. Tastes French but not necessarily like gamay or cru Beaujolais. Sweet when I first tasted it, it improved as it got air. Red fruits. Lots of berry aromas on the nose. A streak of menthol.A tart kick on the finish but not really out of balance. Not as dark and serious as Jean-Paul Brun. But more serious than a typical Beaujolais Village. I get the sense this would improve with a couple of years of aging. North Berkeley Wine import.

2007 Teliani Valley Saperavi - Georgia, Kakheti, Telavi District (3/10/2010)
Georgian merlot. Soft and simple. No tannic structure. Dark cherry flavor and maybe some pencil shavings. Simple. Almost tastes like box wine in a fine wine bottle. Imported by Georgian Wine House.

First taste I hated this wine. There was an explosion of salty/iodine flavor on the finish. But the more I drank, the more I liked it. It didn't seem to open up, though. It's like it coated my mouth and numbed my taste buds. I got more lemon and almond. No oak. THe main flaw is that it's slightly out of balance with alcohol poking through. It's a simple wine, but by the end of the glass I was thinking this might go well with pickled or salty foods. Imported by Georgian Wine House.
