'98 Hirtzberger Singerriedel Smaragd is a witch's brew of slate, acacia flowers, iron rust, dill and BOTRYTIS.

Not really a surprise that there is botrytis in a '98 smaragd, but it has now overwhelmed this wine. Not exactly unpleasant to drink, but distinctly weird. Scharzhofberger auslese mixed with '96 Singerriedel with a slice of pineapple, grated coconut and a sprig of dill.

cloudy, but delicious, i thought; not as precise as prior bottles, but also not as tropical as last night's Singerriedel.
