German pie for pi day

Wasn't sure what to expect from what's normally one of my favourite Mosel Sptlese with Bruno Schmitt retiring from the winemaking with the last vintage; the bottle this year's a little taller and heavier than before with a new label (that makes mention of the 100 year old ungrafted vines on the front), but the wine's still amazing.

2008 Carl Schmitt-Wagner Longuicher Maximiner Herrenberg Riesling Sptlese
Holy crap is this good. Gorgeous fragrance the moment the cork was pulled; fresh limes and herbal elements, and this is really delicious - full of minerals and bright green fruited flavours, very light on its feet, just a hint of sweetness with bracing acidity and a minty, herbal finish that just stays.

Yes; I think at our Spicy & Tasty dinner, JS and I both told you this was very good despite Schmitt's retirement. Good choice for Pi day.
