RIP: Wine Professionalism

One of our customers called us the other day demanding that we take back nine bottles of a wine we sold them in December of 2008, claiming it was no good.

The owner had the temerity to tell me he would no longer do business with us if we didn't give him a credit for the unsold wine and demanded that we remove the bottles from his shop immediately.

I was flabbergasted by this request.

The wine had been sitting on the shelf of their far-from-cellar-temperature shop for over 15 months!

You might be shocked to find out what the problem wine was:

2007 Dard & Ribo Crozes-Hermitage "C'est le Printemps"

Inconceivable!

(The only consolation is that I have been enjoying delicious fizzy syrah for the last few nights.)

Simple: Never sell to to the guy again. You learned that guy is a hybrid of a moron, an asshole and a chiseler and you got to drink and enjoy your losses.
If you ever sell him a bottle of wine again you've got nobody but yourself to blame when he pulls a similar stunt.
