I watched this 1957 Stanley Kubrick film for the first time last night.

95 points!

The finish was surprising, lengthy and must have gone on for five minutes.

So intense, I could not hold back my tears.

On eBob a couple of days ago I mentioned my two favorite war movies are "Paths of Glory" and "Full Metal Jacket," both by Kubrick.

Kirk Douglas liked Kubrick's work so much on "Paths of Glory" he got him to do "Spartacus."

Not by Kubrick, but check out "Breaker Morant" if you like movies that deal with morality and war.

And the retro French helmets were cool too.

For Spartacus, I believe Kubrick was more of a salvage expert than a director

I learned kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus and species in seventh-grade science and the universe is staying that way as long as I can recite it from memory, dammit.
