A tale of two Beaujolais

07 Roilette: Skulking around in the cellar Friday I grabbed one of these. Beautifully complete, balanced and complex, just the right amount of thrust and delicacy. Disappeared as fast as any wine has between the two of us. Poster child for the goodness of 07. This is fantastic now, but I have no doubt about this for the long haul (in Beaujolais terms). Glad I have a case; wish I'd bought two.

06 Thivin: My second half bottle, I really just did not care for this (did not quite have as strong as a reaction to the last). L took one sip and handed it back. Dense wood sap and plums. Compressed. I don't have high hopes for this but am going to give it the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to being in the typical cru b 3-5 year closed period. Try in 2013.
