I took off the stopper to my 1979 Laberdolive (gorgeous by the way) and the top half of the cork came off leaving the bottom in the bottle. I grumbled and got my corkscrew. As soon as the tip of the corkscrew touched the cork the bottom part fell in.
So now the question - am I better off leaving the armagnac in the bottle with the cork or moving the armagnac into some random empty wine bottle?
Will the pieces of cork flavor the armagnac? Will that be worse than the oxygen exposure from moving it to another bottle?
This armagnac will probably last at least 3-4 years before I finish it off...
