and post your impressions and thoughts.

I think that the folks who post on these wines generally have an axe to grind and your more removed stance would be welcome.

Out of the three I've only had the Contadino and would recommend grabbing a bottle or two. As I haven't had the Munjebel (either red or white), I can't say too much. But, if they're a good price, then why not. My feeling on the Magma is that it's probably not worth it, but that's because I don't have the money for it. If you do, fuck it, go for it. Can't take it with you.

I'm with VLM, I'd be interested in your take on the wines.

Here is the post on the Contadino

VLM,
I had the bianco once at the orange wine tasting in SF and thought it poor, especially by comparison to its competition.
But that's not usually how I judge wines; I need them open through dinner so I can have them with food and concentrate on them over time.
Hence my asking for other opinions.

As for buying each; too pricey for me.
The Contadino was $30, the Munjebels $40-50 and the Magma $160. These days, that kind of money has use elsewhere.

I bought one of the last two remaining bottles of the Munjebel Bianco at Crush back in February. I thought it was okay. The wine fell apart pretty quickly though. The aromas were a bit messy/mixed up and never seemed to blossom and develop as I had hoped they would. On the palate the wines was all over the place. Kind of exciting. Kind of untenable.

Overall I enjoyed the experience and wouldn't mind trying others from Cornelissen.

But ultimately, I would rather spend the cash on a bottle of Bea or Massa Vecchia, whose wines offer greater clarity and pleasure.

I wouldn't recommend spending the money on the Magma.

How is the storage in the shop? I think that that is a very key concern, especially in a clime like Florida.

I think the best way to taste Cornelissen is side by side with another wine from the same grape variety and region.

I think that tasting a Munjebel Rosso side by side with a Passopisciaro "Passopiscairo" and a Terre Nere Etna Rosso, for instance, hopefully from similar vintages, can be really enlightening. That was a key moment for me.

What is the same will surprise, and what is different is shown in new context.

Care to be more specific?

Levi,
Before we get into the tangential stuff, how about your opinions of these wines?
I'd appreciate your insights.

Very good storage. A/C all the time with a back-up generator.

Also I would be curious who they were brought in through.

Grey market vs. authorised importer for NY seem to bring different results.

Have you employed the search function?

I've written pretty extensively on this subject in these fora.

You might check these links:

to me the magma is not worth the time or the money. both munjebels are very nice, decant the white (for sediment/solid mater), not the red. also really like the contadino, lightly chilled...

levi's concerns about sourcing should be heeded.

All the wines are worth trying. I don't really care for them, but they're interesting to try and enough people enjoy them that it's certainly worth the effort. I will say that if storage isn't impeccable you'd better be eating something that pairs with gueze.
