Peking Duck House

Looks like a group is heading there of which I may be a part.

Is there anything decent on the menu besides the Duck? Last time we were unsuccessful at finding anything.

Thanks!

P.S. Levi, I'm still going to try that place you recommended, just maybe not this trip.

No, the duck.

Are you going midtown or Chinatown?

(Chinatown is better.)

Good to know. Is this the consensus?

I've only been to mid-town. Chinatown is probably more convenient.

It is. Even Sam Sifton in the NYT wrote (in review of Chin Chin) that the best Peking duck in NY was at the downtown PDH.

No corkage downtown, either. But they don't roll up the crepes for you. You must DIY.

i will never understand the love for pdh. i get the byob love, but the duck just isn't that good. for me, tse yang in midtown has the top peking duck in town.

And Grand Sichuan's Smoked Tea Duck is more wine friendly. Though the one at the JC location is no longer worth eating unfortunately. They seem to have increased the salt by about 500%.

It looks like we may be heading to GS for the Tea Smoked Duck. The one in the East Village.

St. Marks Place?

Never been to that branch.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a Japanese restaurant in North Carolina that I may or may not visit sometime in the future?

Thanks in advance.

I do!!!

I think you'll like it and it is totally off the radar. Only 1 Shochu though. Those are the breaks in NC.

I would have liked to hit Tsukushi but I am part of a group and was persuaded to do otherwise.

Next time I come will be for a longer time, so I can relax, hit the Japanese exhibit at the Met and eat tons of food just like that. It was exactly the kind of recommendation I was looking for.

I appreciate you putting aside your personal animosity towards me to provide such information, and it will not go unused.

I promise I'll stay away from Alto though, out of respect and decency.
