2002 Huet Petillant

Anyone have experience with the 2000?
I had a few bottles of 2000 in early 2006 that showed lots of primary fruit and very good balance. It was not of the intensity of '02 by any means but it was very good. Last I had in late summer '06 was muted and somewhat closed down.

I have to say, I wasn't crazy about the 02 Huet Petillant, but then again at that point of the evening my palate had been out-bubbled

Maybe the fact that you're not that keen on Chenin had something to do with it?

By the way, why is France the only country the '02 is not available in? They are shilling '01s hereabouts.

Not that I've had any vintage of the stuff, but rumblings and rumors seem to push that '02 bubble.

ETA: Oh, except I have had the '64.

You keep repeating that mantra to explain why I don't like the wines YOU bring. Bring some good wine and I will like it. However, I have enjoyed many good Chenins thanks to Jay. ;->

Hard to believe, right, Sharon? I myself was shocked, but when Asher began pouring the Barolo I almost jumped for joy.

Dude, if you don't like Huet, Foreau, Baumard, Renou, Closel, Pinon, Soulez and Champalou, to name some of the wines I've opened for you, than you don't like Chenin.

I think Jay is right, however, that this was way too young and to me seemed really angry at being opened up, like a petulant teenager. Another few years and I'd like to come back to see what blossomed forth.

I love the 2002 Huet Petillant and I liked it better than most that evening but in that context even I was disappointed. Tasted a bit lemonadey to me. Too many bubbles (and I'm surprised to be saying that too).

Part of the problem is that much of the time I wasn't doing my own pours so I drank more than I'm used to.

hey, that reminds me - Cole, you still have my three bottles?
Very hard to drink and hold three bottles.

It's been done. As Chris will tell you, I've perfected the methodology with a number of 27s.

If you have not already picked them up, then your 3 are mixed in among a larger stash. Come and get them soon, before I am overly tempted by this thread to dig them out.
