Hello folks- looking for a few suggestions for eating & drinking venues in chicago that someone reading wine disorder might enjoy... thanks in advance

Blackbird (if you don't mind the ambient noise)
Avec (Blackbird's associated wine bar)
Spring (unpretentious Asian fusion cooking w/ a seafood emphasis, decent wine list)

There are many replies to this same question from me roughly a year ago.

I recommend Cafe Spiaggia (the more casual side of Spiaggia) for lunch. Not inexpensive, but worth the price.
 
I had a great meal at MK which I didn't have to pay for, a few years ago. I loved Blackbird, and Avec. Topolobampo and Frontera Grill were great when I ate there. I had a great octopus dish one night at Harry Caray's. Chicago pisses me off, because the wine distributors are so bad there.

I loved Cafe Spiaggia when I went there about three years ago. Excellent food.
 
for a night off from wine, go to Publican and drink beer. Fun family style dinner on sundays if your with a group.

If you want to spend some money try Naha.
 
By all means search out Webster's Wine Bar in Lincoln Park. Very deep list and good prices, although I wouldn't call it a destination for food. If you're in town this Wednesday they're doing a Jura/Savoie tasting that promises to be interesting.

Fillay... Thanks for the reminder on this. I didn't expect to be in town for the tasting. Now, I am. Maybe I'll see you there?

I'll be there, maybe with a bottle or two in tow that I have been squirreling away to share with the Webster folks.

The Purple Pig on Michigan had some very interesting pork based products and an interesting white from the Jura (can't remember the name)....loud and crowded but fun

They do serve the 2000 Musar, and a Joseph Swan pinot. Have you ever ordered wine from them, though? All the bottles seem to be stored next to burning candles... they just don't give the vibe like they give a shit, at least not in the way they do for bourbon.
 
I was in chicago a few months ago and took my brother and his girlfriend to Blackbird - and was very underwhelmed (I'd loved it when I ate lunch there a few years ago - go eat the bouillabaisse (sp?)and drink Pinon). Very expensive, uninteresting list for the most part, and they couldn't manage to serve lamb with any pink left in it.
 
Yah, the list at Blackbird pretty much sucks, or did the last time I was in. In the past there were always three or four decent things to drink, but none now.

Avec is a different story. I don't love everything there, but usually very cool stuff. Sepia around the corner had good things when I was last there.
