(Reply to VLM, Lars beat me to the post.) I got that same thing on an '02 Le Mont. Is that seaweed-sewage-green acid smell corkage? I didn't know what it was - it was brutal though. The same night I got burned on an '02 Pinon, which didn't have the sewage but also had a sort of shrill green acid character. I was going to do a side by side. Well, both bottles were shot.

The thing in the Pinon I just got for a second time in a bottle of Schueller Riesling Particuliere. It's a weird flaw, I wish I had someone more experienced around to label it for me. It's like the wine has thinned out and turned into shrill green acid, a kind of combination of urine and vinho verde.

Well, then you'd only need one and a sampler. Or a record of someone playing a harpsicord, a turntable and a sampler.

I don't have any idea what it is, but it is terrible. I'm assuming it's corkiness because the cork smells so terrible. Really chlorinated and nasty.

Maybe Joe can chime in.

I haven't had any '02 problems with Huet or Pinon (other than a LHL that was really shut down). I haven't tried the Huet Clos de Bourg since release though.
 
I must have had the Bourg demi 4x since release and each has been excellent, except the last one (finally) wasn't giving as much as the previous 3. Must be that Southern cooking affecting Nathan's bottles.
 
I used to buy six bottles at a time. I wound up with lots of things I didn't want to drink any more of. Call it idiocy. Call it a tendency to be influenced by the opinions of others. I'm on the side of those who would counsel purchases in groups of, say, three at a time. Dozens of cases later...there is only one producer's wines that I wish I had bought more of. A sorry record.
 
I get carried away with wines all the time.

I bought too many '96 Barolo, for sure.

I got carried away with '02 Haut Lieu Demi-Sec (but not a single corked bottle that I remember).

I just have the tendency to get carried away.
 
Noel Verset. Not only did I not buy enough of his wine, I was across the street from him and didn't visit. What an idiot. I wonder if he knows how people feel about his efforts now.
 
'02 Huet Clos du Bourg tonight is a little closed, but nothing out of the ordinary. It's in between, which is why I haven't really opened these lately, having shed some of its young characters and not yet blossomed. It shows a little sweet, too. I figure this is because it isn't showing as much flavor and structure as it should, so the sugar is more evident.

Anyhow, no trace of sewage, chlorine, or other municipal waste stream flavors.

Whew.
