I thought this was going to be a story about dog-breeding.
This interesting story reminds me of a show I saw on antibiotic-resistant tuberculosis bacteria breeding in Russian prisons. One experimental response was to stop all treatment for a period, giving the bacteria time to diversify genetically in a anti-biotic-free host environment. When they lose their specialized resistance, then the medicos hit them with everything they've got in big doses. Results weren't conclusive at the time of filming.
