Duband on the run

Oswaldo Costa

Oswaldo Costa
2005 David Duband La Cerisire Bourgogne Rouge 13.0%
Sherry-Lehmann sells this as Duband but his name is not on the label (says Bottled in France for MHW, LTD. and Imported by MHW, LTD. Manhasset, N.Y.). Only for sale at SL on Wine-Searcher, so must be a private label. Cost in the low $20s.

After initial mustiness blew off, very perfumed, with lovely pinot tart strawberry, framed by sousbois, leather and cloves, the fruit and spice reminiscent of Gof4 Morgon*. Satisfying mouth weight, lovely acidity, good grip. I really, really enjoyed this.

*I sort of resent it when Bojos try to mimic Bourgognes but, for some reason, not the other way round, perhaps because it doesn't happen as often.

Has anyone tried a Duband wine made from the old Truchot-Martin holdings yet?
They cannot be as bad as I fear.

I fear they are as bad as I fear if they are anything like the other Duband wines.

He seems to be rapidly changing his style for the better. The wines he showed at the Paule de San Francisco last March weren't anything like what I know from a few years back.
