Why, oh why...

I have not been to either. But I did get them a gift cert to Rue Cler for christmas. They loved it.

They are coming up my way this weekend with a large amount of allen and sons q. Can't wait.

Btw, do you ever shop at the wine store across from Q-Shack? Can't remember the name. Seems like a decent place.

I have not. I know the guys who own it. It does have a decent selection form what I've heard, but not wines that I'm looking for.

Took my dad to Allen & Sons the other day. So awesome.

Sharon - you're on fire today, woman!

It's these damn Moonies, they want me to keep the estrogen level on this board at a certain point, and given that I have (I checked) over 5x as many posts as the next most-posting woman (w00t, maureen!), I must do what I can.

In all seriousness, I am not into women (snicker), but it was a surprise to see that the only women to have broken a few dozen posts are me, maureen (I use lowercase letters in deference to her usage), and Alice F.

None other! No ozzzer wimmins!

I haven't drunk the Kool-Aid on Rhys.

Say why? I have had one sample. It was big for France but nice wine, not (however one would qualify some of the more egregious CA PNs).

As for Larry, yes, he didn't want objections. This, however, is thread drift.

I know, but it doesn't seem restricted to this bored in particular. The ratio in other groups might be a trifle different, but in all cases seems appallingly low. Time to start recruiting nascent female winegeeks, winegrrrl. You know how newbie-friendly we are around here.

We've got postcounts now?? Next step is to close the board off to those that don't salute the Politburo!

Whoa Nelly! Eden.

Oh, Eden Mylunsch, she's just a cheap whore! I wouldn't let her give me a manicure.

I so feel like the girlfriend of Christopher in "The Sopranos." Those nails!

Cool thing is, it remains geekyyou have to click on the person's name to see the number of posts.

I do this systematically to verify that a n00b is such. Then I get out a can of Raid.

As for the politburo, eh.

Prob is, I'm rather offhand about the whole thing. Who cares if the people talking are menfolk or womenfolk or ducks? I only got piqued when Chris Coad made some absurd statement about a different interaction style on a board with more women. That did stick in my craw. I come here as a winegeek, not as the Saint Francis of ross and petticoats or something.

Sex (not "gender"; yep, it's "varietal" vs. "variety") is moot in wine. I mean, I have my gender preference and all...

ETA: not singling out the non-Coca-Cola drinking Mark Lipton, mind.

I salute the politburo regularly - wish I could show you how.

On the other hand, someone is doing this for free, no advertising, and not claiming obeisance as recompense.

I know a few and they read this bored but refuse to participate for reasons I can't begin to understand. I think they could make very valuable contributions.

I hate lurkers. Always have.

Hmmm... sex is far from moot in my wine, Sharon. Just ask Jean. I agree about the pedantic issue, though: my nouns have gender (at least, when I speak a language other than English); my genetics determine my sex. Eden, OTOH, might have gender.
