2006 Brzme Pergault vv

Interesting, I call a wine closed when I only get the mouth stuff and none or little of the nose stuff. In other words, I don't associate the term with beautiful aromatics.

I think closed can come in different configurations. (Well, there's no real "closed robe," but you know what I mean.)

As for 06 Pergault VV, at least the nose is opening. A year ago, all the doors were shut.

I had a stunning bottle of this recently.

Eric is the man, right now. Don't tell him though, his head will get phat.

Anyone had the 2005 lately?

Not for awhile. Eric told me to keep hands off for now but that 04 is showing well. I look forward to giving one of those a try. Have you had one lately?

Neither 2004 nor 2005. Wish I had. Moment of stupidity and non-purchase. I have come upon some 2005 that I don't deserve the chance to buy, but probably must.

I'm still trying to get over how good the '07 CDP Blanc was at the LDM tasting. I had all but given up hope for the genre and I was completely floored.

Like you, CNdP Blanc is a category of wine that I had little use for, but I think that Eric has established a new standard.

Eric's CDP Blanc is his best wine. We drank a 2000 with him that knocked our socks off.

I don't know that it is his best wine, but it is certainly the best wine in that category, IMO. The only one I'll actually buy.

OK, the Politburo needs to delete this thread before this all goes to Eric's head.

2006 Pergault outstanding yesterday evening, with coq au vin.

It's never the same, this wine. On this occasion - smooth, blackfruity and velvety at first, then acidity came up, but it didn't make the wine brighter somehow, instead closing it up a bit, but at the same time helping along with the food.
