1999 Verset Cornas

This Verset Cornas is (almost) becoming an unmistakable wine. Same medicinal, chalky rawness as the 1995 that I shared with Rahsaan a year ago, but not as precise. In fact, a little diffuse and smooth, creamy... Interestingly, it had a few moments of nice meaty aromas to it but they subsided quickly. Sweet with lomo saltado, but towards the end of the bottle becoming too metallic. Still, a great wine.

I still remember that wine. It was amazing.

I have a 1995 Gasse Cote Rotie at home that I am hoping will provide a similarly thrilling experience, but it probably won't.

I was waiting for the olives too, but they never showed up. Gunpowder, I dunno, maybe it is what I call chalky?

We southerners tend to be a bit firearm-centric, so "gunpowder, sulfur, gunmetal' might be a regional thing.

I think "chalky" and "a great wine" will suffice, adjectively speaking.
