I didn't have much love for them in any case, but who are the Freys?

Glenn Frey was, I believe, the guitarist for The Eagles. How this might relate to the production of Syrah in Tain L'Hermitage, I leave as an exercise for the reader.

Mark Lipton

I attended an event where "the new regime" was in attendance showing new production. They were proudly touting that modern practices were being implemented. Conventional Bordeaux management and marketing comes to the Rhone. In full pursuit of luxury cuves, scores and all that tiresome bullshit. It didn't look good for anyone hoping for a revival of classic prewar traditional farming and production or anything like that.

Frey is a rich man coming from corporate real estate.
He first bought Ayala billecart salmon, la lagune as and finally Jaboulet for his young daughter Caroline (28). I met her once. She think Pingus is a great wine, representing the best tradition of terroir and modernity.
I heard that 2009 hermitage are spectacular. 15% and ink black. Miamm...

"If she was a wine: she would be Champagne because it sparkles! Or a blending of Champagne-Burgundy-Bordeaux-Ctes du Rhne!"

When is that blend going to be on the market? I predict a 95 WS and want to get in on some before it's all sold out.

Oh, that Caroline Frey. I kept wondering why the name sounded familiar.

Isn't it called Flowers "Perennial"?

at least she's cute...ugh...

Personally, I was most excited by this:

She also has coups de coeur wines like Doisy Dane (a liquorice wine made by Denis Dubourdieu) she knows quite well. Or, Syrah wines from the Rhne Valley which are magic with all the fruit inside.

I had no idea what the consultants could do these days- if my liquoreux tasted like liquorice I might be more likely to have a crise cardiaque.

And somehow, "all the fruit inside" brings visions of breakfast cereal or yogurt. Maybe I can commission Cuve Lucky Charms: "Les Coeurs Roses, les toiles Orange, les Lunes Jaunes, les Trfles Verts, les Diamants Bleus, et les Fers Cheval Pourpres!"

Seth, this is going on my personal scorecard of best WD comic wizardry, near your previous entry for the "Allow me to Dream" Cappellano reference amongst the Pie Franco porn.
