01 Donnhoff Oberhauser Leistenberg Auslese

Depends on how you like them, I suspect. I'm firmly in the camp that wants Auslesen when the acid is still shrill, because I have an extreme aversion to any cloying tendencies in the wine.

Opinion has been offered to me that I should be drinking my 99's.
Low acid year, and all. (Mostly spatlesen) What say you, O wise Donnhoffian council?

Bob,

I drank mine four years ago and they were on the flabby side then. Still very expressive, though. Mostly Hermannshohle and Kupfergrube. A couple Bruckes.

'99 is good for drinking - across the pradikats.

The '01 Hermannshohle Spatlese (opened last weekend) from a cold cellar was positively delicious.

Oh, that's good to hear. The last one I opened was very much talk to the hand.

it's crazy what 99 HH S does over a few hours

cherries, and I don't mean white

Thanks to all. Will pop a few to evaluate.
I have opened a couple of 00's recently.
Brucke and Kupfergrube, both seemed vibrant enough to hold a little while.
May need to jeeb re: 99's.

the 02 kupfergrube was showing particularly well in February; the 02 hermannshohle opened a couple of weeks later not so much (a little soft, although it firmed up some with air).
