Manchuela Mauler Brings the Heat

So here we are back home in Honolulu for a week. My folks take us down the hill to their neighborhood bistro (it's actually called 'Le Bistro'), and what should be on the wine list? "Finoa Sandoral Manchuela 2005." Despite the mispelling it's what we suspect it is, and it's only about twice retail, so we order it up and Lisa and I get to tell the whole story all over again.

I like the name! Yes, we do export to Hawaii. I always thought it was the place for Chris Coad to taste purple wine. Glad it happened.

"Finoa" does have a nice Polynesian ring to it, perhaps making it more appealing to the audience in Hawaii. I do hope that it's shipped by reefer.

The stuff is everywhere here. We've been in four wine shops so far (not counting Long's Drugs or Safeway), they've had the '05 at two of them and the '04 at another.

This is Finoa Sandoral country.

Not to mention post-non-reefer storage conditions.
Yeah, these are the ones I fear most. I once saw a shipment of wines (incuding some of mine) sitting on the pier in San Juan de Puerto Rico harbor under a tropical sun.........
