WTF is the matter with Henry Marionnet?

Any thoughts on the relative ageability of the dry versus sweet romorantin?

I guess I could be more specific, I'm talking Cazin here. The regular Cour-Cheverny versus the Cuve Renaissance. I just had a 2002 regular and found it in a good place. Just wondering if anyone had thoughts on the lifespan of the regular vs the CR.

Cheers,

Kevin

I think wines with sugar empirically last longer. Are there counterexamples?

But the Cuve Renaissance is the wine to age for me. The '96 is currently spectacular, and I plan to drink the rest of mine over the next decade or so.

I'm not surprised that the '02 regular is great, though.

Snow leopard grape?I see so few notes on romorantin, it's a surprise (and a first here for me) to see notes re aging a romorantin. What's an aged romorantin like?
It's good.
Romo is not very aromatic young, but it ages into something that might remind you of chenin.

It does get a waxy impression. I've never tried Marrionet before, but I like Tessier and especially Cazin. I have no problems with drinking all the Romo young, however.

Reminds me? Why, when we have the reliable Huet stable to choose from?

(I know I know, variety is the spark of life yada yada...)

Well at least the chenin comparison gives more information than "good" and " depends", etc. I was looking for a typicity point myself.

Give it up, Joel. Taste Villemade, Cazin and Marionnet and give me the synthesis. (Hint: ain't none.)

Point of comparison, taste De Moor, Coche Dury and Valette. What? It's all chardo from Burgundy.

I had always regretted not picking up some Provignage during the Astor moving sale. My regrets have now vanished.

re the 1996 Renaissance - I've probably had that a half dozen times since it was first released and it has never shown as well as it's showing right now. And it was always really good.

So it's a blank, characterless grape, to which everyone throws their winemaking onto, you are saying? And no consistent aging traits to help define it either? Sounds like a boring fucking grape. I'm deleting my Puzelat notes today....which is a shame, because I was starting to get into saying "romo", with the gangsta handshake even.
