Domaine Ganevat

Brézème

Eric Texier
Tasted in Rouen last week-end.

The most impressive lineup I haved tasted in quite a few years.
The purity of style is mindblowing.

Among these fantastic wines :
Savagnin ouill 2004 from magnum
Chardonnay les Chalasses 1997 from jeroboam bottled in 2008!!!
Poulsard Vignes de l'enfant terrible 2007 from magnum recently bottled (sans souffre and for real) at 9.8% of alcohol!

J'adooore

I agree, Eric.

It's too bad they are not more available to us in the US.

I've certainly never seen a large format.

But they were one of my favorite things at the Frozen Dive.

Also, they were good neighbors at dinner in Saumur.

Though it would be hilarious if someone with such similar spelling coopted on the Ganevat reputation by putting out bottlings of the same varieties with the same names.

ETA: And yes, these wines are outstandingly good. Tasted them in the freeze at Brz, but more pleasantly at the clemently temperatured 104 tasting in Paris, alongside old Comt.

had the 07 pinot tonight. a bit tight at opening, after a little air the fruit is just.... pure and delicious. after more air the tannins take over a bit, the fruit is still there, but obscured somewhat. most fun in the middle period...

Bonjour ric,

I've enjoyed a few Ganevats lately, and I'm also very impressed. The most unusual has been a 1999 Les Vignes de Mon Pre, a savagnin aged in 600 litre fudres for 115 months! So fresh you'd never guess the age or levage...

I've also sources Les Grandes Teppes Chardonnay from 2006 and 2007 in Madrid for 19.5 A steal! Ignacio described it as something between a Ctes du Jura from Macle and a Raveneau, which sounds quite OK to me!

Sant!

Is this an oxidized wine (Les Vignes de Mon Pere)?

No, the wine is not oxidative at all, the barrels are topped up, and the wine is fresh, indeed incredible fresh for the long ageing

The importer for NYC, Jeffrey Alpert, who is a dear friend of mine, has this as the prize in his portfolio and won't bastardize the brand by working with a shit distributor. I've had many conversations and he can bring in whatever he wants, albeit in small quantities, but not that impossible to get, if there is initiative.

Huh. I've heard people complain that it is very tough to get the wines. You certainly don't see them much.
