Bought this on closeout a while back for $10, and it was well worth it.

Drinking well now, a little drying on back when opened but with a bit of time loosened up. Nice mineral, subdued Syrah tones - not exuberant, but also not what I'd call cool toned. It became a bit diffuse as the bottle emptied, but it was gone fast.

where do they have that kind of closeouts? In Boston they would give you 10$ off the 90$ tag....

Nah, in Boston they'd stubbornly let it sit on the shelf year after year, refusing all bargained attempts at freeing up that shelf space, then after a decade or so mark it up to $120, then put it in the closeout bin with a 20% discount sticker.

Not that this in any way reflects actual events at any wine store in the Boston metro area.

I think the reputation of 02 cut a too-broad swath.
2002 was considerably better in the Northern Rhne than in the Southern, and Cornas was the most favored of the northern appellations, and Clape is as regular producer as anyone could want.
