Hello,
We made a great dinner at the tgjp in Paris last friday for the end of the 8th tgjp season's, with Loire 2005.
Whites with S. Cossais (Volagr) & Franois Chidaine (Choisilles)
Red's with Bernard Baudry (Croix Boisse), Philippe Alliet (VV), Philippe Gourdon (L'affranchi), Guillaume Keller (Eolithe & Clef de voute), Antoine Foucault (Ripaille) and a 2003 Vatan.
See tgjp.com
Ask any questions on the forum and I will try to answer.
Best regards

My French is pretty non-existent outside of appellation controlee, but that bundt pan for the chicken looks pretty cool.

Pierre-Alain, thanks for the notes.

I have both of the '05 Chinon in my cellar but not many bottles (two of the Alliet VV and 3 Croix Boissee. I was planning on waiting a few years to drink them. Do you think I should open one soon?

The 2003 Vatan Sancerre was a weird bottle. I think the vintage prevailed over the winemaker when I tried it.

Hello,
Both Chinon are long runner. For drinking now, Alliet seems to be the right choice, but it must be as good as possible for the next 5 or 8 years. The Baudry should have a very very long time.
About, Vatan, I bought 24 bottles directly in Chavignol at the estate with Edmond in 2005. Since 2006, we try every year a bottle and hope every time for a "resurection". For this time, it's not a "Lazard" and it's still a disapointed bottle. But we still pray !
Best regards

Only the French could come up with something like that. It's awesome!

this vertical roaster has been around the States for a long while. Works pretty well, but the Staub one looks far easier to clean and better for catching drippings for sauce.

The 2003 Vatan is definitely weird. I have one bottle left and am letting it sleep many years in hopes that it will find its inner Lazarus. I am pretty sure it will fit best at one of our cull parties though.
