Find. Eat. Drink.

A little birdie sent out a tweet a bit ago that I thought some here might be interested in. I believe the Find.Eat.Drink site has been mentioned before (evidently it's done by an ex-CSW'er), but here's another one. Anyway, it's a cool site and there are a couple things on the main splash page that involve some names that will look familiar. Make sure you scroll down to the bottom.

That is all.

I prefer the picture with the orange tint.

Great interview, Levi. And nice shout-out for Cat, who never gets the credit she deserves because she's not a limelight-seeker. Rather the opposite, frankly.

Yes, it's really nice to see her mentioned, kind of amazing what a "secret" she seems to be.

Hmm, and maybe Levi could think again about the name of that "little place in Liguria's Colli di Luni" , because that is where I will be next week. And if somebody wants to recommend some wineries there (or in Emilia-Romagna or anywhere else in the northern parts of Italy)....that would be fantastic

I'm not Levi, but If you can visit Ottaviano Lambruschi in the Colli di Luni you'd be psyched. Epic Vermentino.

Thanks Lyle. He was actually mentioned in my guide book but I was not sure how much they understand. I shall visit.

Nice shout out to De Bartoli 20 year Vecchio Samperi Marsala. One of my favorite wines. It's also kind of orange.
Yes, but Old School orange. And a great wine, for sure.

Hmm, happy coexistence there on the site in terms of interviews. Funny how that worked out.

Mr. Joe Dressner, my heart hopes that one day you will love a restaurant in the borough of Manhattan.

A kid can dream, right?

Laura Aschero too. Pigato. Pricey. Can be wonderful.

In late March of 1990, while in Liguria, I drank a 1989 Vermentino from Laura Aschero that was really exceptionally lovely--very elegant and refined, simply brilliant. All of 6 months old, fresh as could be, with perfect precision. I can still smell it!

The Prima Terra wines are worth looking into while in Liguria, in addition to those Lyle mentioned.

And of course, Vio Giobatta.

Yes, it's really nice to see her mentioned, kind of amazing what a "secret" she seems to be.
If I had this argument once, I had it fifty times with a series of editors at one local pub:

"Can you write about someone other than Cat Silirie?"

"When's the last time I wrote about Cat Silirie?" (A: never, at that publication)

"But don't you think she's a little overexposed?"

"When's the last time anyone wrote about Cat here?"

"Well, we mentioned her three months ago."

"Yes. Barbara Lynch opened a restaurant, and you got a fifteen-word quote from her on her favorite wine with oysters. And you mentioned her in passing in the restaurant issue. How is that overexposure?"

"But there must be someone else to write about."

Etc., etc., etc. It was like a Yogi Berra conversation: she's so overexposed, no one ever writes about her.

Levi, what do think of the Ligurian wines from Bisson?

We serve the Cilegiolo rose and the vermentino, and I find them both to be really solid mineral-driven wines. I think they're DoC Golfo de Tigulio both.

I like Bisson quite a bit. I think the wines often benefit from a year or so in bottle, as they then begin to open up a bit. The Marea is a particular favorite.

One thing I would mention with Bisson, though, I have experienced a lot of cork taint. I believe he recently switched suppliers to help address the situation.

I actually didn't mention Bisson before because I associate him more with Cinque Terre, and it sounded like the trip proposed was more of a mainland visit.
