This week's sign of the apocalypse

During downtime at my daughter's volleyball tournament in a roasted forsaken corner of Antioch (with nary an old Zin vine in sight), I look for somewhere nearby where I might grab a bite and check up on the England-U.S. game. There's a Pizzeria Uno down the street a ways with the TV on. I order a spinach single serve pizza. The bartender asks me "Do you want Ranch with that?"
"Excuse me?"
"Would you like ranch with your pizza?"
"What would I do with it?"
"You know, to dip your slice in."

Unless this was some freakish whim of the bartender, apparently people are dipping their pizza in Ranch dressing now.

Perhaps the manager just tried Belgian fries somewhere??

There was a pizza restaurant in Mexico that served a greasy-buttery dressing that university students spooned on top of a cooked pizza, so maybe this has something to do with it?

Unless you're talking about Antioch Syria, and then all bets are off.

Hopefully at Uno only. US was lucky to tie.

I have a sneaking feeling that it is not only at Uno.

People seem to love ranch dressing for all kinds of reasons that I cannot fathom.

But that must have been a funny exchange with the bartender.

I forget where I saw fries that were battered before they fried them. Must have been Florida.

They would seem to need some ranch, too.

Pre-battered fries are a standard foodservice item, easily found everywhere there are Cysco deliveries. Frankly, at most of the places that serve them, we're probably better off; the alternative is too soggy to contemplate.

Mayo still works, despite the batter, but frankly the best dipping sauce is Maalox.

The goal was lucky, but the result was fair, on balance.

We looked like we deserved to be there. I was pretty happy, especially with how we played in midfield and held possession for good stretches, something that we were incapable of in the past.

Clint looks dangerous.

I agree. Our goal was, admittedly, one of the weakest ever in WC competition, but England's early goal was a product (I think) of nerves and lack of teamwork, something that plagued our defense for much of the game. It never hurts to have one of the top goalies in the world in goal, though. We'll see what happens if he can't play in the next match.

Didn't really see the first goal, but looked like England dominated. Still a tie with the best team of the group is a good outcome.

Bummer the USA's next game is Friday morning, but then to quote Cory: "it's been happening for years" (i.e. everything and anything).
