Well, if you're Cory, you go for Dollhouse. If you have taste and sense, you just despair.

But there's the movie.
Did you watch Dollhouse all the way through? I can see writing it off after the first half of season 1, but I was lucky enough to trust a friend and see it through.

It was a freaky voyage from the terrible, amateurish first episodes to the finale. I hope that Whedon learned his lesson finally. He can be a great storyteller at times and an abysmal one at others. Amazingly erratic talent in the commercial world.

ah, but did you notice the "Dollhouse" theme song(or rather the haunting vocalizing over the opening credits)? my gal, jonatha brooke!

I really think the first six episodes weren't entirely his fault. If you abandon those, the series looks a lot better and more consistent. But I will always believe that the problem was Dushku, who is so far a one-character actor.

See I think she started to come into her own finally. Toward the very final episodes. She had a bit of range for the first time.

Hmm. From the outside, looking in- "range" blooming toward the end of a series devoted to a character without a sense of self developing one? Brilliant!

Or maybe Dushku's just a total babe. I should probably tune in to see.

Anyway, Ian- check out Battlestar Galactica. It's a little (OK, a lot) more "earnest earnest" rather than "tongue-in-cheek, but really truly earnest" but it's still pretty amazing writing.

And everybody that loves The Wire should check this out:
