Pulled this bottle of Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1994 from the cellar to match with steak tips on the grill.
On pouring, it had a beautiful nose and deep color without any bricking, but was thin, shrill, and acidic on the palate. I've had these over the years and they can sometimes be hit and miss. This one gained weight and depth in the glass while grilling, developing nice balance, soft tannins, little to no oak and great fruit throughout over about 30 minutes. Medium-long finish. Probably will not get any better, but money well spent at $15, delivered. I can't imagine the private reserve version of this was worth paying ten times as much.
