Just had a bottle of 2007 Domaine Costal Chablis Les Truffires and was really disappointed. What do folks like in the $25-$40 range?

Louis Michel, Picq, Gautheron.

I see that Discount Wine Buys (Mercer Island, WA) has the 2007 Michel Chablis for under $12. Anybody had the wine, or dealt with the company?

Had the '07 AC Chablis from Dauvissat on Sunday with some oysters. I highly recommend it. Also, I have liked what I've had from De Moor and second the Christian Moreau reco.

From their website looks like they're associated with a restaurant "Cellar 46"

Picq is wonderful at its price-point. Harder to find is the Vieilles Vignes, which, I take it, is worth the difference in price. I'd also like something a bit more age-worthy, and therefore a bit pricier, so thanks so much for all these suggestions.

Is 'Chablin' the plural of Chablis?

I could say it's a 17th Century Burgundian dialect or maybe some evil Count in a Dumas novel. Or maybe it was just typing too quickly when I was suddenly called away. But, yes, let's make it a new French plural formation!

Is this the wine that's a collaboration between Kermit Lynch and Raveneau? If so, then yes, I haven't been impressed with this wine in the last few vintages, either. And given the pedigree, it's a real disappointment.

I've been enjoying:

Boudin, Fourchaume
W. Fevre, Fourchaume (the negociant bottling)
Dauvissat (the base level)

There's another Fevre also, Domaine Nathalie et Gilles Fevre, and their '07 base level Chablis is really good and only $18. I liked it more than the more expensive 1er's.

and last night's '06 Roulot Bourgogne Blanc was great, too.

Mark, re: Nathalie et Giles Fevre, I'm told that the producer is a distant cousin of the more well known William Fevre producer, and the former winemaker of the Chablisienne cooperative.

I've had luck from time to time with Drouhin Vaudon, Dampt AOC, and Defaix (Etienne) 1er (with age). Dampt 1ers have a good rep, supposedly age well, and are often less than $30.

As to aging Picq AOC, Jim Cowan just posted a laudatory note on the 05.
