Indeed...where I learned that the earlier bottles being filled from the same tank are clearer/less sedimented than the last/later bottles....which might help explain at least a bit of the bottle variation?

It *is* a little hard to join the celebration of crappy racking. Even if you like the wines and are not a clean freak. I don't even celebrate bad decanting.
