Lyle Fass
2008 AJ Adam Hofberg GG.

Like a charmless, toothless overweight German prostitute, who looks good after 10 beers. Then you realize after the beers wear off what you actually got yourself into. Not speaking from experience.

But if that's your thing, 2008 AJ Adam Hofberg GG will be right at place at your dinner table.

Sounds like a nice companion to the Fritz Haag GG.

I think Adam's best wines are the ones with just a smidge of sugar like the '05 reserve and the '07 just-plain-Hofberg.

I was thinking of you when I wrote that. I agree his feinherb styles are the best. I just don't think in the MM dry austere wines work that often.

It showed well at release, but really I don't think '08 suits his style. His '07s were very good, though.

Yes. I did not taste his GG in '07. His other wines were ethereal and '09 seems to be in his wheelhouse to from what I have tasted.

Yeah, at first I thought that's what Lyle was linking to. No, I'm not going to provide a link of my own.

How does the 'overweight' jibe with 'austerity'?

Good things the gg's are above my means...

The wine was big, but had razor-like teeth. The finish was like biting into a cathedral.

Opened the 09 Kabinett last night. Really good stuff.
