How come nobody's said a word about the World Cup?

Where's VLM when I need him? You guys are a bunch of naysayers.

Totally depressed too, but gotta say it, happy to see an African team still alive. I'll be cheering them on in the next round, didn't think they showed semi material though.
Leave it to Americans to get all worked up about (US) football and golf and dis the world's sport.

Fuck the rest of these wine nerds.

Wimbledon has been a much bigger competitor for my viewing eyes these past few days.

But we're certainly aware. And tomorrow morning should be fun. With my German wife who lived for several years in England. We're just glad that she's not in London at the moment. These tensions look ugly and I've seen brutal bar fights break out during the World Cup between bankers in West London. Ok, admittedly not the most civilized slice of humanity, but still...

I can't watch tennis anymore. It's a cure for insomnia. Feels weird because I played for over a dozen years. 6-7 days a week, private lessons, the whole shebang.

I watched today's match. I think you can go to the well only so many times. I thought the US squad might make it as far as the quarterfinals. Shira was in the room with me. She wasn't watching, but the buzzing from the TV annoyed her (and me).

At this point, the only sport during non-playoff time I can watch on TV without being bored (and falling asleep) is football (the American kind, not the kind currently being played in South Africa). Might have something to do with the fact that there are very few games in a season so pretty much each one counts. 81 game season for pro hockey and basketball? 162 for baseball?

zzzzzzzz.....

I have no explanation. I have thought about why that is over the years. Even when my playing days were over, I'd always watch the Grand Slam tournament matches. This has evolved gradually over the past 10 years.

PS I wouldn't go touting your Selecao as being so pretty to watch. You did see the Portugal game, right? Not so attractive.

Agreed, the first half hour of the second half was beyond abysmal.

It has to well played to be attractive to watch (says he, with an air of insouciant superiority about to be humbled).

maybe you had a point before dunga took over as coach.

Defense?Where is England's defense? The game is getting away from them.
It looks like they're playing the Swiss cheese defensive formation that the USA prefers. Full of holes. God, they're getting ripped apart.
