Curiously, when I left FL it was 95 degrees - that will be today's high in Sonoma. Who'd a thought?
A 2005 Verget, Vaillons was just delightful with cheeses recently when we visited folks in Dallas. And the 2007 Overnoy, Arbois-Pupillin rouge was stunning.
A couple bottles of the 2006 Fillaboa, Albarino, Monte Alta were just excellent; nearing the level of the Cepas Villas at a fraction of the price.
How the hell does Whole Foods get Huet, Demi Sec and sell it for $25?
Had a taste of the Beckman, Purina (sp?) Mtn. syrah (vintage unknown) and couldn't get through it. Way too sweet for me.
Also had a taste of a Brewer and Clifton, Pinot (designation and vintage unknown) and found it almost as sweet.
Looking forward to getting into the winery tomorrow and checking on our 2009 syrah. Tasted the 2008 from bottle last night and am pleased with its showing.
Almost unpacked now and a party to go to this afternoon.
I do love Sonoma . . .
Best, Jim
