Favor for a Good Friend

It should be noted that the Clos Rougeard has more sugar in it than any Constance of which I am aware. Something like 200g. But huge acid, 9g IIRC. Crazy stuff.

Does it really? The impression was so far from syrupy that I'd never have guessed that. So very light on its feet.

Where's the photos?

Mercifully, there are none.

Such a blessing to be able to enjoy the evening without flashy-flash in one's eyes all night long and pseudo-paparazzi racing about, making everyone uncomfortable.

My new camera has an asa of 6400. No more flashy washys at Joe's, though I still think the pics are better with a flash.

Josh has a Mystery Wine. .sasha takes a hit, sniffs at it and says "It's Rhne."

...

I get caught on one side of the table between vandergrift and Raynolds. They keep launching into these winegeek-jargon-intensive ping-pong matches that leave my face feeling a bit blistered on either side: BLAH BLAH WHEN I VISITED JEAN-LOUIS AT HIS CELLAR HE TOLD ME EVERYTHING I EVER SAID WAS RIGHT BLAH BLAH, WELL, WHEN I VISITED HIM HE MADE ME DINNER AND WASHED MY FEET WHILE PRAISING MY MANLY VISAGE BLAH BLAH.

You forgot to mention that I got the cpage. Between us, sasha and I are a whole wine geek.

Whatever Josh and I were arguing about, it was very important. It continued until he got a train and I a cab somewhere around 1:30...

It was nice to see you Chris.

All the wines showed well, I thought. I wasn't particularly enamored with the Heredia or the Bertheau but they weren't bad.

Anyone know who the new guy is? Pretty amazing write up for a first try.
I agree. The characters are well fleshed out and add a depth and arc to the story that make it all seem quite tangible. Almost like they're real. Bravo!

Bienvenido de vuelta!

Thanks for the kind words on purple wine, Chris.

Even if it's from the Yarra.

I dunno, there something kinda dja-vu about it. And nothing about little ducks in a row.

I agree Jay, this kid may be new on the block but he has managed to write without a melange of photos to crap up his presentation. His descriptions of events may not be cutting edge but they are traditional. We should all encourage this new dude. I'm sure he doesn't like pineapple on his pizza either. Bravo, he's a keeper.
