Economic Crisis, Dollar, Three-Tier System

The dollar appreciates since it is impossible to get hold of and the world still needs dollars for buying US products or other products (oil) that are quoted in dollars. The collapse simply means nooen has dollars anymore.

I see them everywhere.
Not in the megazillions that is needed....and not to be loaned to institutions whose ability to pay them back may be questioned...

Now you're talking. I need megazillions of dollars to pay for my Desired Wine Purchases and I just can't find enough of them..

But seriously, point well taken.

I don't know about your friends, but business is booming for us!

I watched Warren Buffet on Charlie Rose last night. Buffet said:

Alcohol is another outlet for troubled times, so distributors and manufacturers in this industry will continue to thrive. In times of financial distress it is the poorer consumer - the one often categorized as having a drinking problem - that will give up the sauce completely. The wealthy are the only ones who can afford to keep drinking, and it is their excess in times of despair that picks up the slack in the industry's profits.

The wealthy might trade down from big name wines to Touraine's declassified as Vin de Table, but they keep their habits going.

Does Constellation Brands sell Touraine's or are they leaving that market to the micro-importers? It sounds like now might be a good time to start building a market for Japanese rice vodka in oddly shaped bottles, or maybe tequila made with biodynamic cactus from Costa Rica, Paraguay or Liechtenstein (the less likely the origin, the better). Weird works in the booze biz, and you need a niche to be a playa unless you're rubbing shoulders with the big boys and are able to elbow their wacky juice outta the way on the bodega and 7-11 shelves around the country.
