2003 Dei Sancta Catharina

Oswaldo Costa

Oswaldo Costa
2003 Dei Sancta Catharina Tuscany IGT 13.0%
Prugnolo, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Attractive saddle leather and blackberry. Surprisingly high acidity, possibly induced, though Marcia finds it balanced. Medium tannins, quite astringent. Alcohol well integrated and no salient oak. Good mouth weight. Surprisingly agreeable for an 03 Super Tuscan, though the acidity left me suspicious.

I had the 01 of this a while back and found it competent and serviceable but quite innocuous. Certainly not memorable for my pedestrian and ill informed tastes. The only thing I do remember is kind of feeling like the different parts of the blend stuck out from each other a bit...

There's a very useless $.02 for you!

Funny, it was the 01 that got me interested when it stood out at a mass tasting. Just goes to show you, all so elusive...
