CWD: Sancerre and goat cheese

It is a glorious fall evening in North Carolina. We just got back from Blowing Rock where the leaves are starting to change (just a little)

2002 Georges Roblin et Fils, Sancerre, Chateau de Maimbray, alc 12.5%, $24, Robert Chatterdon Selections: A nose of minerals and a hint of lemon zest.. on the palate..also delicate with powdery character and just the most minimal hint of lemony bitterness but a great focus and precision.. really sings with the Buchrondin cheese (aged goat)

You cellared this? Ho was it young, I haven't had it.

Is this the good Chadderdon or the sinister Chadderdon?

the Chatterdon was Robert (not sure if that is the sinister one or not)
I cellared this for about 3 yrs.. never had it young.. Gotta say the '02 Sancerres are showing well.

Do goat cheese and Sancerre epiphanies always come with crisp sun-warmed weather, never otherwise? I can't see the same thing working in the dark winter or tropical zones.

I can see it: a reminder of the sun that isn't up there, the goats that aren't bleating over there, the Lysterium that isn't... oh, never mind.

Not sure how the context influenced the experience exactly BUT..

We really love Sancerre (even on cold rainy days)
We always love goat cheese..especially aged goat cheese

I must say, however, the experience did seem to be enhanced by the situation

Can one ever drink a wine "out of the context"????

Bobby C for me has some of the world's best wines in his portfolio, and then he has other stuff that makes me wonder what in the world he was thinking having it in the same book--doesn't the good stuff catch cooties from the embarrassing bad stuff?

I haven't had this Sancerre.
