2001 Charles Joguet Chinon Les Petites Roches, alc 12%, $18...immediately upon opening the aromas burst forth from the glass....a little barnyard to begin with then replaced with sweet pipe tobacco, cedar notes and a bit of sweet red bell pepper....the palate starts out with reticence then opens up with blueberry, strawberry and fine tannins...the finish is long and builds in intensity....a very nice wine at this point in it's evolution

Thanks, Jay. I guess I should be holding on to my 05s, though I thought they were already starting to drink well almost a year ago, with a lot of air. A decent bottle for about $15 (less in 01, probably).

'05's may be coming out of their closed up phase, but the expectation is that it's a vintage that will improve and improve for a long time. great stuff for those that wait.
